Jardim de Santos, sometimes also referred to as Jardim Nuno Álvares, is located in Lisbon, at Largo de Santos. It is part of the Estrela parish, in an area once known as Santos-o-Velho. This green space occupies an entire city block, standing out as a landmark in the area.
In the city center, Jardim de Santos offers an environment of serenity. Its vegetation is dense and robust, with sizable trees providing welcoming shade. Among the flora present, a remarkable specimen of Bela-Sombra stands out, contributing to the garden's distinctive atmosphere.
Inaugurated in 1873, this nineteenth-century garden reveals a landscape style that evokes Romanticism. Its alternative name, Jardim Nuno Álvares, is a tribute to the historic Portuguese constable. Inside the garden, visitors will find a bronze statue dedicated to the Portuguese writer Ramalho Ortigão, a work erected in 1957, which adds a cultural and artistic dimension to the site.
Designed for leisure and respite, Jardim de Santos invites moments of tranquility. Along its paths, benches offer an invitation to rest, ideal for a break during a city walk. It is a place that allows one to appreciate the rhythm of Lisbon life from a calmer perspective, immersed in a well-maintained green area.
