Jardim da Luz is located in Largo da Luz, in the heart of the Carnide area, a traditional part of Lisbon. This square serves as a central point in the parish, integrating the green space into the daily life of this historic neighbourhood, offering a place of reference and meeting for visitors and residents alike.

Traces of History

This garden holds memories and symbols connected to Carnide's history. The site has a strong connection to the Feira da Luz (Fair of Light), an ancient event held annually and one of the area's significant traditions. The bandstand, built in the early 20th century, is another structure that evokes the past and contributes to the historical identity of the garden and the square.

The official name by which the garden is sometimes known, Jardim Teixeira Rebelo, pays tribute to a figure linked to local history, Marshal António Teixeira de Rebelo.

Natural Elements

Among the vegetation that makes up the garden, there are tree specimens that stand out for their value and classification. In particular, the garden hosts two trees of the species Erythrina crista-galli, which have been recognised and classified as of Public Interest, highlighting the presence of remarkable natural heritage in this urban space.
