The Church of São Bartolomeu da Charneca is situated in an urban area of Lisbon, in the neighbourhood that gives it its name, Charneca. The interior of the Church of São Bartolomeu da Charneca surprises with its valuable heritage. The eye is immediately captivated by the coffered ceiling, a work of remarkable detail. The walls of the nave and chancel are covered with late 16th-century tile panels, which create a distinctive atmosphere and tell a story through their colours and designs. The church also houses a collection of interesting paintings, notably canvases associated with the workshop of Bento Coelho da Silveira, an 18th-century master painter. In addition to these elements, even older pieces can be observed, such as a Manueline wayside cross, two holy water fonts, and various tomb slabs bearing Gothic inscriptions, testaments to distant eras.
