The Confraternity of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos played an important role throughout the centuries, even facing difficult periods, such as in 1914. After 1940, there was a renewal of the statutes and strengthening of worship.
The church has a single nave. Near the entrance, a choir loft resting on a narthex. On the frontal wall, a stone arch from the original period.
Two 18th-century windows on the south wall were enriched in 1963 with stained glass designed by Mário Costa, featuring images of Nossa Senhora dos Anjos, São Francisco, and Santa Clara.
The doors of the sacristy and the despacho house feature artistic stonework in white limestone from the 18th century. The pulpit, from the 17th century, stands out for its red marble with decorative details.

Connects the nave to the chancel. It is made of pink marble, with columns in black marble and alabaster finial.
According to tradition, the image of Our Lady with the Child appeared on top of a fig tree. After being taken to another church and mysteriously returning to the same spot, the people decided to build a chapel there. The fig tree still exists on the site.
