The Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça is located in Nadrupe, a serene village that is part of the municipality of Lourinhã. It stands in Largo Nossa Senhora da Graça, assuming a central and peaceful presence in the village. Its location in the heart of the village invites a calm visit, allowing its visitors to experience a genuinely local atmosphere.
The history of the Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça dates back to 1869, the year of its construction. This temple was built as a result of a vow made by the inhabitants of Nadrupe to Our Lady. The community decided to erect it as a sign of deep gratitude, after being spared the effects of a yellow fever epidemic that was affecting the region. Thus, the church remains a lasting testament to the faith, resilience, and cultural heritage of the Nadrupe community.
The church features a simple and welcoming architecture, typical of rural religious buildings from the 19th century. On the main façade, its pointed gable, of classical inspiration, stands out, above which a large window opens, illuminating the interior. Attached to the front of the building, on the left side, rises the bell tower, which has a direct access door to the churchyard. Inside, the Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça consists of a single nave that leads to the chancel. During conservation work in 1989, the lower walls of the nave and chancel were clad in marble, lending a sober beauty to the space.
