Legacy of the Torres Lines

This fort is one of the notable Military Works of the Torres Lines, an impressive defensive system built in the early 19th century. The Lines of Torres Vedras, hastily constructed to protect Lisbon from French invasions during the Peninsular War, represent one of the greatest feats of military engineering of its time.

The Forte da Boa Vista, as an integral part of this complex, played a vital role in the defense of the national territory, being the Military Work nº 3 of this defensive arrangement.
