The chapel stands in the Livramento urbanization, in Alapraia, Parede parish, Cascais municipality. It is located next to the marginal road, in a square where the contrast between residential housing and landscaped areas stands out.
The surrounding area is calm, with small trees that soften the public thoroughfare. Its proximity to the sea gives it an airy atmosphere, ideal for those passing through the central coast.
Dating from the 17th century, the chapel features an inscription marking its reconstruction in 1757, after the 1755 earthquake. The simple gable facade opens through a straight lintel portal, flanked by two straight-lined windows and crowned by a large window that illuminates the choir-loft.
The interior has a single-nave plan and a rectangular, vaulted, and deep chancel. Noteworthy features include the exterior access to the choir-loft, the lateral bell tower, and the attached sacristy. The marbled paintings on the walls are balanced by the sober structure of Baroque influence.
In front of the chapel stands a fountain from 1929, designed for local water supply, and a stone cross with an inscription. These elements give the churchyard the appearance of a small historic square, where the cobblestone blends with the silence.
The ensemble forms an interesting photographic spot, especially at dusk, when the light highlights the textures of the granite and whitewash. The harmony between architecture and nature offers a moment of pause during a stroll along Cascais' marginal road.
