The Chapel of the Holy Spirit is located in Cheleiros, in the municipality of Mafra, next to the road and near the stream.
Built in the 16th century, the chapel was heavily damaged by the 1755 Earthquake and restored in 1986, retaining the essence of its Manueline work.
It has been classified as a Property of Municipal Interest since 1962, standing out for its historical and cultural importance.
The chapel features a triumphal arch ornamented with Manueline elements. The keystone of the arch is decorated with a human bust, with a beard and crown, which represents the coronation of the Holy Spirit.
The chapel also has a hostel, which served to welcome the poor, pilgrims, and travelers. It is a testament to the history of Cheleiros as a place of passage for those who needed rest and recovery.
The main portal, dating from the 17th century, has a classical appearance, although the religious image that adorned it has disappeared over time.
The interior stands out for its built-in pulpit and decorative rosettes, which reflect the Manueline style of the time.
