The Portuguese Centre for Screen Printing (CPS) is located in the vibrant area of Belém, in Lisbon, within the Belém Cultural Centre (CCB). Being housed in this renowned cultural complex means that the CPS is a point of great interest and easy access for visitors to the area, integrated into an environment dedicated to arts and culture, close to the Tagus River and other important landmarks of the city.
The Portuguese Centre for Screen Printing (CPS), founded in 1985, has the mission of promoting and publishing original graphic works by contemporary artists, both Portuguese and foreign. It is a space that allows visitors to discover and access 'art multiples', which are original prints resulting from techniques such as screen printing, engraving, lithography, or photography. Each piece is created in a limited edition and duly signed by the artist themselves, guaranteeing its authenticity.
With a history dating back to 1985, the CPS has played a significant role in promoting and publishing graphic works in Portugal. Initially focused on screen printing, it expanded its editions to include engraving, lithography, photography, and digital art, exploring a wide range of artistic printing techniques. Its collection of editions includes works by hundreds of artists, covering important names in Portuguese and international art. Over time, the CPS also became known for hosting exhibitions dedicated to the graphic works of great masters of modern and contemporary art, such as Picasso, Dalí, or Paula Rego, offering a unique perspective on their work in this format.
The CPS space within the CCB invites visitors to explore and discover. It functions as a gallery where one can choose from the vast and diverse catalogue of graphic art editions. It is a place to appreciate the variety of styles, themes, and techniques represented by the numerous artists with whom CPS collaborates, from established names to emerging talents. A visit allows direct contact with the printed artwork, valuing the quality of the edition and the uniqueness of each piece.
