Its position is prominent in the town's landscape, establishing a strong connection with the nearby coastal area and the famous Tamariz Beach. The building is an easily identifiable landmark in the central area of Estoril.

A Historical Legacy

The history of Casino Estoril dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. The first stone was laid in 1916, but it was in 1931 that it first opened its doors, an initiative driven by Fausto de Figueiredo.

Over the decades, the venue gained notoriety, especially during World War II. Portugal was a neutral country, and the Casino became a discreet meeting point for exiles, deposed royalty, and even, it is said, spies, adding a layer of intrigue to its past and serving as inspiration for Ian Fleming's novel Casino Royale.

Architecture and Artistic Features

The current structure of Casino Estoril is largely the result of a significant expansion that took place in the 1960s. The architectural project was carried out by Filipe Nobre de Figueiredo and José Segurado, reflecting modernist features of the era.

Aesthetic care extended to the interior, with the decoration entrusted to artists such as José Espinho and Daciano da Costa. These elements contribute to the visual identity and atmosphere of the space.

A Center for Entertainment and Culture

Over the years, Casino Estoril has established itself as a hub of entertainment and leisure in the region. Although gambling is one of its central components, the venue hosts a variety of cultural and entertainment activities.
