The Vigia do Facho (Facho Lookout) is located near Boca do Inferno (Hell's Mouth), in Cascais, municipality of Cascais, district of Lisbon, Portugal.
Built in the 18th century, this tower served as a lookout post to monitor the sea.
It has been a Property of Public Interest since September 29, 1977.
The tower is made of stone masonry and is currently in ruins and abandoned.
It appears on the Map of Garrisons of the Cascais Square from 1805. The map includes other lookouts of the time, such as the Vigia dos Oitavos (Oitavos Lookout) and the Vigia do Cabo da Roca (Cabo da Roca Lookout).
These towers were used to give alarm signals, especially to warn about three-masted ships or warships. The Lookouts also transmitted messages through flags.
The area around Vigia do Facho offers an impressive view, but it is important to be careful with the nearby cliffs.
