The Trilho das Vinhas (Vineyards Trail) is located in the town of Cascais, in the municipality of Cascais. With an approximate length of 4.2 kilometers in one direction, this route establishes a connection between the town center and the parish of Alcabideche, towards Sintra. Its starting point is located in the area behind the Mercado da Vila (Town Market), marking a place where the more urban environment of Cascais gradually merges with landscapes that, although close to residential areas, assume a greener and more natural character.
This trail develops along a valley, bordered by slopes that, although not very high, are wooded. The path is remarkably wide, flat, and has a compact surface, facilitating a relaxed walk at different paces. Along the route, between the vegetation that thickens in some points, it is possible to glimpse houses and buildings, which coexist with the natural surroundings. Private properties and some smaller farms line the trail, creating an interesting visual dynamic between the built environment and nature.
The name 'Trilho das Vinhas' evokes a memory of past times, when the landscape of Cascais integrated a greater agricultural component. Although today there are no vast vineyards along the route, it is still possible to observe some scattered vines in certain fences, which inspire and justify the name of this trail. Beyond these references to its rural past, the route reveals the presence of old properties, whose walls and gates tell silent stories of the region, witnessing the transition from the countryside to the suburban area that surrounds it today. Small gardens and some fruit trees can also be glimpsed, contributing to the diversity of the landscape.
The Trilho das Vinhas offers an experience where the proximity of the urban environment reconciles in a harmonious way with greener spaces and an atmosphere of greater tranquility. This route invites contemplation and a slower pace, revealing itself as an accessible refuge for those seeking a moment of disconnection and well-being, even at the entrance to the town. The subtle transition between built-up areas and the more wooded and natural segments creates a feeling of calm and balance, making it a pleasant space for a leisurely stroll or to enjoy the serenity in proximity to nature.
