- Located between Conceição beach and Almagreiros, in the parish and municipality of Cascais, in the district of Lisbon.
- Built between 1642 and 1646 as part of the fortifications to protect Cascais during the Restoration War.
- Originally known as the Baluarte do Rio do Bode (Bastion of the Goat River).
- It had the function of protecting the bay of Cascais and was in operation until the first half of the 19th century.
- After being deactivated, the site was demolished to make way for the Palácio dos Duques de Palmela (Palace of the Dukes of Palmela), completed in 1873.
- The fort had an irregular plan adapted to the terrain, with a rectangular battery in a "V" shape and a terrace with a parapet.
- It included accommodations, kitchen and powder magazine, all facing the parade ground.
- The wall around the Palácio dos Duques de Palmela was built later for protection, and is not part of the original structure of the fort.
- The Palácio dos Duques de Palmela, which occupies the site where the fort was located, is a remarkable building and a visual reference point in Cascais.
- The building is not open to the public for visits, but it is an important historical and architectural landmark.
