Architectural Design

This open-air amphitheatre stands out as one of the most striking elements of the Champalimaud Centre. Its shape, inspired by ancient Greek arena theatres, organizes the seating in a semi-circle, promoting remarkable acoustic quality, ideal for performances. The arrangement of approximately 450 seats facing the Tagus River gives it a unique atmosphere, where architecture merges with the surrounding landscape.

A Stage with a View

Facing the Tagus River, this amphitheatre provides a wide perspective that reaches the sea. From where one sits, the view extends to the other bank, encompassing the towns of Porto Brandão and Trafaria. In the distance, the scenery is framed by Lisbon icons such as the Belém Tower, the imposing 25 de Abril Bridge, and the serene Christ the King statue. This combination of natural elements and urban landmarks makes the location an authentic "postcard" of Lisbon, especially at sunrise or sunset, moments when the landscape transforms into a spectacle in itself.
