This green space emerged from the requalification of Praça de Espanha, contributing to the expansion of the capital's "green lung". A Legacy in Landscaping

The park is named in homage to Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles (1922-2020), a pioneering and fundamental figure in Portuguese landscape architecture. The conception of this space reflects many of the principles advocated by Ribeiro Telles: the promotion of a green structure based on ecological pillars, the increase of permeable areas, and the valorization of natural drainage. The choice of species, mostly native to the Lisbon region, reinforces the landscape architect's vision, prioritizing adaptation to the local environment and sustainability.

Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles Park features a rich botanical composition, with the planting of nearly eight hundred trees of twenty-five distinct species, in addition to over fifty thousand shrubs, herbaceous plants, and bulbs of sixty varieties. This investment in flora contributes to a diverse natural environment and to the improvement of air quality. One of the park's innovative aspects is water management, which transforms previously impermeable areas into spaces where water can circulate and be utilized, underlining a commitment to urban sustainability.

A work of art by the Spanish artist Cristina Iglesias is integrated into the space, adding a cultural and aesthetic dimension to the landscape.
