The site dedicated to António Ramos Rosa is located in the town of Figueirinha, in the municipality of Oeiras. It is integrated into a vast and well-maintained green space, a park designed to honor prominent figures of Portuguese culture. Its position in this environment offers an atmosphere of tranquility and allows for a contemplative experience, framed by landscaped areas and tree-lined avenues that invite a relaxing stroll.
This unique spot pays tribute to António Ramos Rosa, one of the great Portuguese poets, also recognized as a translator and draftsman. The homage is materialized in a sculpture created by Francisco Simões, a piece that captures the eye with its striking presence. Conceived as a hieratic image, the sculpture presents a form that invites reflection. Notable is the perpendicular slit that crosses it, an opening in its apparent hermeticism, suggesting a release or an access to its symbolic interior.
António Ramos Rosa, born in Faro, dedicated his life to writing, being the author of a vast and acclaimed body of work that earned him several literary awards. His poetry explores themes such as the constant movement of nature and life, the idea of change, and the passage of time. The sculpture that celebrates him is not just a portrait, but a visual representation of these poetic concepts, inviting a reading that transcends physical form and delves into the depth of his creative universe. It is an invitation to feel the essence of a writing that valued intensity and calm.
