The Park of Arts and Sports is located in the town of Mina de Água, Amadora municipality, more precisely in the urban area of Moinhos da Funcheira. This area, today dedicated to leisure and physical activity, occupies what was once the old Lixeira da Boba landfill, a space that underwent a remarkable environmental transformation to become what it is today. It is surrounded by residential areas, serving as a meeting and wellness point for the community and visitors.

An Invitation to Physical Activity

This park offers a wide range of options for those looking to stay active outdoors. Its extensive walking circuit, approximately 3 kilometers long, is ideal for walking, running, or cycling. Additionally, the space features three multi-sport courts, three tennis courts, and two padel courts. Practitioners of more specific sports can enjoy a disc golf course, and for four-legged friends, there are two dog parks, separated by animal size. Various outdoor sports equipment complements the offering, encouraging sports practice for all ages.

Art on the Green Path

In addition to sports activities, the Park of Arts and Sports integrates culture into its natural environment. Visitors can enjoy a sculpture circuit, where various art pieces from the municipal collection are displayed along the walking paths. This arrangement allows for a different engagement with art while enjoying a stroll through the park. There is also an area dedicated to outdoor performances, enriching the cultural experience of the space.

From Landfill to Green Lung

With a total area of nine hectares, the park is a significant example of environmental recovery. The intervention that transformed the former landfill into a space for leisure and well-being included the planting of 1552 new trees, contributing to the creation of a true green lung in Amadora. This vast extension and the landscape revitalization offer an inviting environment for relaxation and contact with nature, reflecting a commitment to health and leisure.
