An 18th-Century Legacy

Quinta da Fidalga, originally known as Quinta de Nossa Senhora do Monte do Carmo, dates back to the 18th century. It was built around 1720, on the initiative of José Ramos da Silva, a prominent figure as Provider of the Mint. This manor house features 18th-century architecture of simple lines, characterized by a Portuguese-style facade. Its grandeur lies in the sobriety of its forms and its historical value, which have elevated it to the category of Property of Municipal Interest since 2006.

The Chapel and Its Details

One of the most distinctive elements of the Quinta is its chapel, dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, attached to the main body of the manor. Completed around 1731, the chapel features a robust-looking quadrangular bell tower. Its facade is adorned with a tile panel depicting the Virgin in the tympanum of a triangular pediment. Inside, one can observe a stone coffered ceiling and a Baroque altarpiece, which includes high-relief figures, as well as a rosewood pulpit, testaments to its rich artistic heritage.

Green Space and Leisure

With an approximate area of 1 hectare, Quinta da Fidalga offers a green space designed for leisure and relaxation. Its design was conceived based on the theme of water, celebrating sustainability and the cycle of life, and includes various seating areas that promote leisure activities. Visitors will find urban furniture, such as benches and picnic tables, and recreational equipment, making it an appropriate place for outdoor relaxation. In its rear area, a small cultivated plot can still be found, arranged in terraces and punctuated by trellises, recalling the quinta's original function as an agricultural property.
