The Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Guia is located in the area of Sapateira, a zone that is part of the localities of Castanheira de Pera and Coentral, in the municipality of Castanheira de Pera. This religious building has its roots in the first half of the 18th century, with its initial construction dated 1733. Over time, the hermitage underwent modifications, being the subject of a reconstruction in 1984. This intervention adapted the space, and elements such as the original pulpit were removed, reflecting the transformations and needs of each period.
The Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Guia features vernacular architecture, a style characterized by simplicity and the use of local techniques and materials. The building is composed of a single nave, which leads to the chancel. On the main façade, a bell tower stands out, which is annexed, and the hermitage also includes a sacristy. It is a place of devotion dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Guia.
