The Pillory of Aljubarrota is located in the parish of São Vicente de Aljubarrota, in the municipality of Alcobaça, Leiria District.
It has been a Property of Public Interest since 1933. It is included in a Special Protection Zone that includes the Church of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres and the House at Rua Direita, nº 49.
Aljubarrota is part of the thirteen villages of the coutos of the Cistercian abbey of Alcobaça, founded by King D. Afonso Henriques in 1147. The Pillory was built after the granting of the charter by D. Manuel I in 1514, symbolizing local power and justice.
Aljubarrota is known for the Battle of Aljubarrota, which took place on August 14, 1385. This confrontation between Portuguese and Castilian troops is a landmark in Portuguese military history.
