Praia do Bom Sucesso is located within the urbanization of the same name, in the locality of Vau, belonging to the municipality of Óbidos. It is situated on the south bank of the Óbidos Lagoon, extending to the point where the lagoon meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Its unique geographical position places it opposite Foz do Arelho, separated from it by the vast waters of the lagoon and by various sand islets that emerge in its bed, giving the landscape a very particular characteristic.

The Two Faces of Water

This beach offers a distinct experience, marked by the confluence of the calm waters of the Óbidos Lagoon and the dynamism of the Atlantic Ocean. On the lagoon side, the waters are generally tranquil, providing a serene environment, although stronger currents may be felt near the bar during high tide.

On the ocean side, the sea is usually rougher, making it a prime location for water sports such as kitesurf and stand up paddle. This duality creates different environments and possibilities for visitors to the sandy area.

Sandy Area and Natural Environment

The sandy area of Praia do Bom Sucesso is vast and features an unusual configuration, starting on its eastern side and widening considerably as it approaches the lagoon bar, curving around a cliff and extending southwards. The landscape is complemented by the presence of dune vegetation, which naturally shapes the contour of the beach.

This space, due to its amplitude and the nature of its waters in the lagoon area, is highly sought after by families with children, who find it an appropriate place for leisure. The surrounding area has ample parking space, facilitating access.

A Vantage Point

In the vicinity of Praia do Bom Sucesso, there is a viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. From this elevated point, it is possible to observe the grandeur of the Óbidos Lagoon in its entire extension, as well as the coastline that stretches to Foz do Arelho.

It is a place that invites contemplation of the region's natural beauty and the capture of memorable images, offering a privileged perspective on the interaction between the lagoon and the ocean.
