Praia da Água de Madeiros is located in the locality of the same name, in the municipality of Alcobaça, bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Access to the sandy area is via stairs that descend the cliff, next to the small settlement, offering a perspective of its coastal surroundings.
The beach is situated in a natural setting marked by high cliffs and the proximity of an extensive pine forest area, which stretches along the coast. The Estrada Atlântica, with its route, follows the proximity of the beach, crossing the area of Pinhal de Leiria.
Characterized by an extensive sandy area, approximately 1.1 kilometers long, Praia da Água de Madeiros extends both north and south from the main access point. This beach is also known as Praia da Pedra Lisa, a name that reflects the presence of flat rock slabs, especially visible in the southern area, extending for over a hundred meters.
The cliffs that frame the beach reveal sedimentary limestone strata of particular interest. In the northern part of the sandy area, there is a shell-shaped nook, more sheltered from the wind, where a small stream flows into the sea. This stream creates a distinct environment within the beach.
The sea at Praia da Água de Madeiros is normally rough. This condition makes the spot inviting for the practice of some water sports, being a frequent spot for surf and bodyboard practitioners. Sport fishing is another activity frequently observed on this sandy area.
For those who visit it, it is a supervised beach, ensuring greater tranquility. The quality of the bathing water has been recognized over the years, which attests to the environmental conditions of the place. The small stream that runs on the beach offers a natural and safe space for children to play, complementing the seaside experience.
