Located near the Louriçal Convent and the Parish Church, in the parish of Louriçal, municipality of Pombal, district of Leiria, Portugal.
This pillory, originally built in the late 16th or early 17th century, was transformed into a cross in 1908. The Manueline charter of Louriçal dates from 1514, therefore the pillory is later than this date.
, Platform: It rests on a platform with three steps, the first step being almost at ground level.
, Base: Octagonal, supported on a low parallelepiped with a lower projection and decorated superiorly with an octagonal torus and plinth.
, Column: Of Tuscan inspiration, with a cylindrical and smooth shaft, not very high, supported on two circular frames.
, Capital: Composed of several parts, including a circular abacus that supports a square board.
, Top: Currently has a Latin cross with smooth arms, added during the transformation into a cross.
, Property of Public Interest: Since October 11, 1933.
, Special Protection Zone: Included in the protected area of the Church of the Convent of Louriçal, which has been a National Monument since 1939.
