Cardal Garden is located in the heart of Pombal, in the area known as Vinagres. It is strategically positioned next to the historic Cardal Church, bordered by Alexandre Herculano and Leiria streets. This central location offers an easily accessible point within the urban fabric of Pombal.

A Space of Tranquility and Renewal

This garden offers visitors a serene environment, marked by the presence of various species of trees and shrubs. Recently, the space underwent a significant renovation, which included the creation of a central oval-shaped square. This paved area, designed to host various events such as fairs or concerts, integrates an innovative water feature with misting nozzles, activated on special days or during the hottest periods of summer, providing coolness and a unique scenic appearance.

The square's surroundings are punctuated by an alignment of trees, complemented by benches that invite rest and contemplation. The garden's green structure, with its hedges and herbaceous groundcover, has been renewed, retaining the existing pergola, now enhanced with flower beds of various species, whose designs have been reformulated to enhance the beauty of the space.

Heritage and Art in the Garden

In Cardal Garden, visitors will find elements of historical and artistic value that enrich their experience. Highlights include the Cardal Bandstand, a central gathering point, and the Bust of the Marquis of Pombal, notable for being the first statue erected in homage to this Portuguese statesman. In the immediate vicinity of the garden, one can observe the Pink House, a building of unique design by architect Ernesto Korrodi.

Another relevant landmark is the Garden Fountain, a classified monument dating from 1911, the year it was offered to the town of Pombal. Each of these elements contributes to the cultural identity of the space, inviting visitors to pause and appreciate the local history and architecture.
