Located in the village of Burinhosa, municipality of Alcobaça, in the heart of the West region of Portugal, in a quiet area surrounded by pine forest.
The current building is recent, with simple and modern lines. It features a bell tower with a clock and a metal cross at the top, giving it a distinct presence in the centre of the village.
The first chapel in Burinhosa was likely built in the 19th century. In 1971 it was replaced by a new construction, which would later be remodelled in 1991. The temple seen today was inaugurated on September 26, 2009, after another reconstruction, due to the state of degradation of the previous structure.
It is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, patron saint of the community. Inside, although discreet, contemporary religious elements that reflect the local spirituality can be found.
The church is set in a spacious area, with an access staircase and nearby garden areas, ideal for a peaceful stop. The natural surroundings with pine and palm trees create a welcoming and serene environment.
It is a point of interest for those who enjoy discovering religious spaces with local history and modern architecture. It represents the faith and evolution of a small community throughout time.
