Dating back to the 17th century, the Hermitage of Nossa Senhora do Rosário (Our Lady of the Rosary) is a testament to the religious architecture of the 17th-century period. Its construction marks an era of devotion and artistic expression in the Famalicão region, maintaining its original function as a place of worship.
The hermitage stands out for its sober and harmonious architecture, typical of the 17th century. With a quadrangular plan, it features simple volumes and a gable roof. The main facade, facing south, invites entry through a straight lintel portal, complemented by a wooden door with fretwork details. Upon entering, the space reveals itself to be simple yet welcoming, inviting a moment of tranquility. The central point is an artistically crafted niche, which houses an image of the Virgin and Child. This figure, sculpted in stone and richly polychromed, is adorned with a rosary, interspersed with delicate rosettes, inviting contemplation and appreciation for the artistic details present in this place of faith.
