The Tourist Interpretation Centre is located at the northern entrance of Pedrógão Grande Village, specifically in the Tapada da Ladeira urbanisation, in the locality of Vale da Manta. The building, which houses this space, resulted from the recovery of an older construction, integrating into the local landscape and serving as a reference point for those arriving in the municipality.
This space functions as a welcoming point for those wishing to explore the municipality of Pedrógão Grande and the vast Central Region of Portugal. It is a place where a comprehensive vision of what the territory has to unveil is offered, inviting the discovery of its geographical, cultural, and patrimonial peculiarities.
The Centre offers a modern approach to information presentation, through exhibitions that combine permanent with temporary displays. Visitors are invited to interact with state-of-the-art multimedia equipment, which engagingly and creatively portrays the natural and architectural heritage of Pedrógão Grande, as well as the routes and stories connected to the Schist Villages network. It is an invitation to explore the content in a dynamic and enriching way.
In this place, there is also a space dedicated to craftsmanship, where products reflecting the identity and creativity of Pedrógão Grande and the Schist Villages can be found. This area allows visitors to connect with the region's manual production, understanding an important aspect of local culture and traditions.
