The Chapel of São Sebastião stands in a quiet area of Albarrol, in the locality of Pousaflores, in the heart of the rural landscape of the Ansião municipality. Surrounding it, the winding path is lined with granite walls and Mediterranean vegetation, creating a serene environment.
The building is situated next to scattered houses, benefiting from an environment where the wide sky and countryside light become an integral part of the experience for those who pass by.
Registered in the mid-19th century by Dr. Costa Simões, the chapel is part of the set of public religious buildings in the parish, standing out for its functional simplicity which allowed it to celebrate moments of community devotion.
Although it has long ceased regular celebrations, it keeps alive the memory of local traditions linked to patron saints and village pilgrimages.
Built with whitewashed masonry, it rests on a stone plinth that gives it robustness. The portal features a curvilinear finish and, above it, a circular oculus allows for the play of light inside.
The small bell tower, topped with a "wind vane," offers a photographic motif alongside the contrast of the ceramic tile roof and the luminous white walls.
