History and Thermal Origins

This park has a very strong connection with the thermal waters that gave rise to Caldas da Rainha. It was created in the 15th century, on the initiative of Queen D. Leonor, who recognized the healing properties of these waters. Initially, the park was the surrounding area of the Thermal Hospital, designed for the well-being and recovery of patients. Over the centuries, it transformed into a public garden open to everyone, maintaining its connection to the city's thermal history.

Nature and Gardens

The park is a beautiful example of a 19th-century romantic garden, with winding paths, lakes, and a diversity of trees and plants. It is an ideal place for relaxing strolls, to appreciate nature, and to escape a little from the city's pace. One can find tranquil nooks, statues, and architectural elements that invite discovery and rest.
