Located on the coast, near Cabo Carvoeiro, in Ajuda, Peniche, district of Leiria, sub-region of Oeste, Portugal.

Origin

Although the exact date of construction is unknown, it is believed that the current structure dates back to the 17th century.

History and Tradition

The devotion to Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (Our Lady of Remedies) dates back to the 12th century, when it is said that an image of the Lady was found in a cave, where the first hermitage was carved into the rock.

Characteristics

The current temple stands on the site of the original hermitage. Highlight for the tiles that depict episodes from the life of Our Lady.

Festivities

Attracts many devotees, especially during the annual religious festival that takes place in October.

Heritage

Classified as a property of public interest since 1996.
