The Sabugueiro River Beach is located in the heart of the village of Sabugueiro, in the municipality of Seia, nestled within the elevated landscapes of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. Its considerable altitude provides a naturally cool environment, inviting on warmer days. The surroundings are characterized by traditional terraces and the village's typical granite constructions, visible from higher points, creating a harmonious integration between the natural space and the surrounding rural heritage.
What was once an informal bathing spot in the Ribeira da Fervença, transformed in 2018 into an organized bathing area with improved conditions. This requalification project was carefully planned to integrate the new structures into the surrounding natural environment, using materials such as granite and wood. The result is an area that, although developed for leisure, maintains an authentic character and respects the mountain landscape where it is situated.
The clear waters of the Ribeira da Fervença invite moments of tranquility. The river beach is characterized by a weir that forms a main area suitable for diving and swimming, with some sandy bottom areas that facilitate entry into the water. A wooden walkway extends over the stream, connecting the grassy banks and providing observation points. Further upstream, among the rocks, small natural pools are formed, offering additional secluded spots for those seeking a more private environment to enjoy the cool water. Rocks emerge at various points, allowing visitors to sit and appreciate the scenery.
For the comfort of visitors, the Sabugueiro River Beach offers various support infrastructures. There are grassy areas where one can spread a towel and relax, as well as changing rooms equipped with toilets and showers. The space also includes a picnic area and a specific barbecue zone, designed for those who wish to spend the day. Accessibility was also a concern, with guaranteed facilitated paths to the waterline for people with reduced mobility, making the place welcoming for everyone.
