The Quadrazais River Beach is situated in a vast and luminous valley, about one kilometer from the village of Quadrazais. It is located on the Sabugal plateau, benefiting from its proximity to the foothills of the Malcata and Mesas mountain ranges, which extend as natural borders with neighboring Spain.
This leisure area is located on the left bank of the Côa River, a watercourse that, in this zone, marks the beginning of the Serra da Malcata Natural Reserve, providing a distinct natural setting.
The waters that bathe Quadrazais River Beach originate from the Côa River, not far from its source in the Serra das Mesas. The water mirror, although not very extensive, is known for its accessible depth and refreshing temperature, making it a pleasant place for swimming.
The area surrounding the beach is characterized by a considerable sandy stretch and dense vegetation, with the presence of chestnut and holm oak trees that offer ample shaded areas. This environment is complemented by a serene landscape, where alders, ash trees, and elderberries can be seen, contributing to a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere.
Quadrazais River Beach was designed as a vast leisure area, equipped with infrastructures designed for visitors' comfort. There are two picnic parks available, one conveniently located next to the sandy area, taking advantage of the natural shade provided by the large trees.
On the sandy area, there are thatched parasols that offer shelter from the sun. The quality of the bathing waters at this location is annually recognized, having been distinguished with the ‘Qualidade de Ouro’ (Gold Quality) seal by Quercus. This award reflects the excellence of the water, proven by analyses conducted over several bathing seasons, and its compliance with rigorous quality criteria. During the bathing season, the beach has surveillance, enhancing bathers' safety.
