Zoomarine Algarve is located in the Guia area, in the municipality of Albufeira, set within a pine forest near the coast. Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, the park benefits from access to typical Algarve natural landscapes, where the region's luminosity and colours blend with the marine environment.
Its location, just a few minutes from the golden beaches, gives the space a tranquil atmosphere, far from the urban hustle and bustle, allowing visitors to enjoy sweeping views of the gentle contours of the hills and the sea.
The park is designed around artificial crystal-clear lagoons, reflecting palm trees and native trees. Paths wind through botanical gardens and landscaped areas, creating a route that invites contemplation of nature.
In the Butterfly Garden, for example, butterflies stand out in a tropical habitat full of exotic plant species, providing close contact with pollination in action.
Zoomarine incorporates Porto d’Abrigo, the first marine species rehabilitation centre in Portugal. Here, a multidisciplinary team is dedicated to rescuing, treating, and returning animals to their natural environment, reflecting the park's commitment to ocean preservation.
In the Oceanus aquarium, over 20 ecosystems are recreated, from the waters of Ria Formosa to tropical reefs, allowing visitors to observe seahorses, clownfish, and sharks in a setting that simulates their natural environment.
The bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) presentations reveal the intelligence and agility of these mammals, while raising awareness about threats caused by marine pollution. Following this, seals and sea lions demonstrate the differences between both species and highlight the importance of protecting their habitats.
Tropical birds take centre stage in free-flight shows featuring macaws and raptors, while spectacles like Pirate Bay combine acrobatics and storytelling, giving a playful tone to the message of friendship and respect for the environment.
The park offers various adrenaline-pumping water experiences, from water rollercoasters inspired by exotic settings, such as the Jurassic River, to slides with thrilling drops. The Zoomarine Beach area replicates a fine sand beach, ideal for relaxing by artificial waves, while lazy rivers offer a serene ride surrounded by vegetation.
For the little ones, aquatic playground areas with themed structures promote safe and fun interaction with water, maintaining a focus on discovery and respect for nature.
