Praia dos Rebolinhos is located in the Martinhal area, close to the village of Sagres, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo. It is situated within the vast protected area of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, benefiting from the characteristic landscape setting of this coastal zone of the Algarve.
Access to this beach is generally on foot, via a path that crosses the vegetation on the western side, leading directly to the coastline. It is a place that offers a more secluded environment, positioned in a small bay facing the Atlantic Ocean.
The name Praia dos Rebolinhos directly derives from its substrate composition. This beach is predominantly covered by rounded pebbles, which are small stones smoothed by the constant action of the waves, and are locally known as "rebolinhos".
Although pebbles are its main characteristic, the beach also features a small portion of finer sand at its eastern end, contrasting with the largely stony area.
The surroundings of Praia dos Rebolinhos are marked by a simple and beautiful natural landscape. The beach is nestled in a small bay, flanked by modest-height cliffs.
These cliffs feature lush green vegetation at the top, contributing to the feeling of integration with nature. It is also at this point that the Ribeira da Torre meets the sea, adding a small freshwater course to the coastal scenery.
