Praia do Valentim do Carvalho is located on the Atlantic coast of the municipality of Portimão, near the village of Alvor. Nestled at the foot of ochre cliffs, it presents a coastal environment marked by the presence of rugged rocks and intimate coves.
The reduced sandy area is situated in a sparsely populated area, offering a contrast between the deep blue of the sea and the dense rock formations. The surroundings reveal traces of typical dune vegetation, lending it a natural and preserved character.
The cliffs that flank the beach exhibit layers of yellow-toned sediments, created by erosion over millennia. Caves and small cavities appear at the base of the rock, resulting in unexpected paths and viewpoints near the waterline.
A large boulder rises a few meters from the coast, becoming a striking scenic element. Submerged rocks extend into the bathing area, creating color contrasts and inviting moments of contemplation of the seabed.
Access to the beach requires some physical preparation and attention to sea conditions. The descent is made down a rocky escarpment, often smooth and steep, recommended only for those who feel secure on unstable and rocky terrain.
During high tide, a large part of the sand is submerged, significantly reducing the available space. To enjoy the beach, it is advisable to plan your visit during low tide periods and be mindful of the changing water levels.
