Portinho do Forno Beach is located within the area known as Sítio do Forno, belonging to the locality of Bordeira, in the municipality of Aljezur. It is situated in a coastal zone that extends through Pontal da Carrapateira, offering a visual and geographical connection to this prominent coastal formation.
Access to the beach involves a descent, gradually revealing the small space and its unique surroundings by the sea.
This place primarily serves as a small sheltered harbour for the local fishing community. The presence of fishing vessels, often moored in the sandy area or being manoeuvred, is a distinctive characteristic of Portinho do Forno.
There is a ramp that facilitates the launching and retrieval of boats into the water, highlighting its continuous function as a support point for traditional maritime activities.
The beach features a very limited stretch of sand. It is flanked by a sandy cliff, which shows visible signs of erosion and some natural instability. The base of the cliff accommodates numerous rock debris resulting from these processes, shaping the wild and dynamic appearance of the place.
The natural environment reflects the constant action of the Atlantic Ocean on the coast.
From the surrounding area of Portinho do Forno, particularly from the higher points of Sítio do Forno and Pontal da Carrapateira, it is possible to appreciate a broad perspective of the coastline and the sea. This panoramic view encompasses the cove where the small port is located and extends across the surrounding coastal landscape.
The geographical configuration offers different angles to observe the interaction between land and ocean.
