Praia do Golden Club (Golden Club Beach) is located on Cabanas Island, one of the barrier islands that separate the Ria Formosa from the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated in the eastern section of this lagoon area, within the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
Access to this stretch of sand, from Cabanas de Tavira, is typically via a short boat trip across the calm waters of the Ria Formosa, thus reaching the island where the beach extends.
One of the striking features of this beach is its size. The sandy area is quite extensive, boasting a considerable length of about 1.4 kilometers. This vast area of golden sand offers ample space along the coastline.
Being integrated into the Ria Formosa Natural Park, the beach benefits from a protected natural environment. The quality of its waters and the state of conservation of the surrounding ecosystem are recognized, earning it environmental distinctions such as the Blue Flag or the Gold Flag, attesting to its bathing excellence and absence of pollution.
The name by which this beach is known, "Praia do Golden Club" (Golden Club Beach), derives from its proximity and position opposite a hotel development located on the mainland. It is common practice for a beach name to become associated with reference structures in its surroundings.
