Praia do Garrão Poente is located in an area known for its integration into quality residential areas and natural spaces. It is adjacent to the Vale do Lobo urbanization, in the municipality of Loulé. This section of the coast is distinguished by the presence of low cliffs of reddish and golden hues to the west, covered by pine forest, which define the beach's boundary in that direction. To the east, the landscape transforms into an extensive dune system that develops along the coastline.

Approximately two hundred meters from the coastline, and associated with the Garrão Poente area, is the Lagoa das Dunas Douradas (Golden Dunes Lagoon), a freshwater wetland that constitutes an important natural element in the beach's surroundings.

The extensive sandy beach

This beach is characterized by a large sandy area, offering ample space for visitors. Its extension allows visitors to enjoy the coast with a feeling of spaciousness, even during periods of higher attendance. The sandy beach is an invitation to long walks along the seafront, allowing appreciation of the coastal landscape in its different aspects, from the cliffs to the west to the beginning of the dune system to the east.

The Praia do Garrão Poente area integrates a valuable dune system, essential for coastal protection. This natural habitat is traversed by wooden walkways that facilitate access to the sandy beach, while preserving the delicate dune vegetation. By walking along these walkways, it is possible to observe the local flora, including species such as sea thyme, known for its characteristic aroma.

Its proximity to the Lagoa das Dunas Douradas enriches the beach experience, serving as an additional point of natural interest. This freshwater lagoon attracts various species of aquatic birds, which find a place here to feed and rest. A walk by the lagoon offers the opportunity to observe wildlife in a tranquil and scenic environment.

Environment and coastal landscape

Praia do Garrão Poente is recognized for its generally calm environment and the quality of its bathing waters. The surrounding landscape is a harmonious combination of the sandy coastline, vegetated dunes, low cliffs with pine forest, and the serene presence of the lagoon. From the sandy beach, the view extends to the west, where one can observe the silhouette of the city of Quarteira in the distance, particularly at the end of the day, when the sun sets on the horizon.
