Nestled on the coast of Albufeira, this small bay emerges between sedimentary rock cliffs, along a less frequented stretch of coastline. Its discreet position provides it with an environment of sculpted cliffs, with low-lying shrubs on the crest and a narrow, south-facing sandy beach.
From the top, observers are greeted by a carpet of turquoise-green water that contrasts with the golden hues of the rocky walls, forming a natural tableau that changes color with the incidence of the sun.
The fine sand stretches in a gentle curve, inviting visitors to lay their towels by the water's edge. The clarity of the sea allows for views of submerged sandbanks and, at times, small pools formed in the rocky nooks, where fossilized shells concentrate – remnants of eras when this entire area was submerged.
The surrounding cliffs display layers of erosion-resistant sediments, giving the site a visible geology that can be appreciated up close. On calm days, the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the rocky base emphasizes the serenity of the place.
Access is via a narrow and steep, unpaved trail, where a rope aids the descent. Appropriate footwear and some attention to loose ground are necessary; the uphill difficulty filters the influx of bathers, ensuring a peaceful environment.
Once on the sand, the space is almost exclusively for those who venture there, ideal for those seeking tranquility and direct contact with the coastal landscape. The sunset light enhances the warm colors of the cliffs, creating a scene particularly appreciated by photography and contemplation enthusiasts.
