Praia da Oura is located in the area of the same name, integrated into the urban area of Albufeira. It is positioned between Praia dos Aveiros, to the west, and Praia de Santa Eulália, to the east, forming part of a continuous stretch of coast.
The beach is accessed by descending from an area where the city's modern tourist development has concentrated. The sandy beach is flanked by a pedestrian promenade that follows the coastline, offering a perspective of the beach and the ocean.
This beach stands out for its extensive golden sand, approximately 900 meters long at low tide and of considerable width. The sand is generally soft underfoot.
The sandy area is naturally divided by a set of rock formations extending into the sea. This division creates two distinct areas: a western section, larger and with wide access, and an eastern section, smaller and sheltered by a cliff, which provides a slightly different environment.
The water quality at Praia da Oura is regularly recognized, being awarded the Blue Flag. This attests to the cleanliness of the sea and the good environmental conditions of the beach.
The sea is mostly calm and suitable for bathing and swimming. However, it is prudent to be aware of the presence of some submerged rocks in certain places, especially near the rock formations that divide the sandy area. On windier days, some waves may form, appealing to those who enjoy the waves.
Praia da Oura is known for its lively and bustling atmosphere, being one of the most frequented beaches in Albufeira, particularly during the summer months. The western part of the sandy area, being the widest and most accessible, tends to concentrate a larger number of visitors and activity.
In contrast, the eastern section, protected by the cliff, offers a quieter corner for those seeking a slightly more secluded environment. It is a popular spot among those who wish to be in the center of Albufeira's coastal dynamic.
The surrounding landscape combines the expanse of the sandy beach with the rock formations and an open view of the Atlantic Ocean.
The beach's natural environment invites various forms of leisure, from simply relaxing on the sand to walking along the seashore. The existing rocks provide opportunities to explore and discover small coastal nooks, observing marine life and the different geological textures.
