Grilheria Beach is situated in the small cove of Estômbar, in the municipality of Lagoa, on the Atlantic coast of the Algarve. It is located between rugged cliffs that shape a discreet corner, away from the more easily accessible beaches by land.
The scenery involves sedimentary rocks with ochre tones and golden sands, in a natural setting that makes this beach a small refuge by the sea.
At the eastern end of the sandy area, a cave opens up, slightly widening the sandy space and creating a small natural shelter. On the western side, pebbles resulting from rockfalls punctuate the base of the cliff, giving a rustic and vibrant aspect to the coast.
The surrounding cliffs exhibit visible strata that tell the geological history of the Algarve, inviting a brief pause to observe the interplay between rock and sea.
The environment surrounding Grilheria Beach is marked by the continuous sound of the waves and the Atlantic wind that sweeps across the cliffs. The presence of scattered coastal vegetation, such as the strawberry tree and some aromatic species, adds fragrance to the air and a rustic tone to the landscape.
It is common to observe seabirds making small circuits near the waterline, offering a small spectacle for those who approach in silence.
High tide covers the entire sandy area, so it is advisable to pay attention to the tide times before planning your visit. Those who wish to spend some time on the sand should choose the low tide period, when the resting space by the sea is more ample.
Access is exclusively by sea, either from private boats or small tour boats that navigate along the coast. This peculiarity reinforces the secluded character of the beach and the perception of being in an almost secret spot on the coast.
