Praia da Águia is located on the southwest coast of Portugal, in the municipality and town of Vila do Bispo, integrated into the area known as Grota. It is situated within the vast territory of the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, a protected natural area. It is a coastal indentation that opens to the Atlantic Ocean, flanked by the high cliffs that characterize this part of the Algarve coast.
This place stands out for its sandy area, which is of diminutive size. During periods of high tide, the sand strip is almost entirely submerged by seawater. The beach is framed by imposing cliffs, whose escarpments are steep and marked by crevices. In the areas closest to the waterline, both to the north and in the center, there are rocks that are totally or partially submerged, depending on the tide level.
Praia da Águia is a place rarely frequented, which gives it an atmosphere of great tranquility and isolation. It is not a typical destination sought for sunbathing or swimming, partly due to its characteristics and the nature of the sand. Reaching this place by land is quite complicated, as there is a trail in the South area that presents extreme difficulty, not being recommended for most people. Thus, the most accessible and safest way to discover Praia da Águia is by sea access.
