Origin of the Name

The unique name of this beach, Praia dos Beijinhos (Kissing Beach), originates from a local particularity observed on its sand. It is said that the name arose due to the frequent presence of small shells.

These shells had a shape that, in popular perception, resembled small "kisses," thus giving this coastal nook its name.

Environment and Natural Landscape

This is a small beach, nestled in a natural bay and flanked by warm-toned cliffs, typical of the region. The scenery is complemented by the presence of rocks that dot the golden sand.

A distinctive element in the landscape is a larger rock, visibly split in half, located near the breaking waves. The cliff surroundings feature some vegetation, and it is possible to observe seabirds.

Access and Beach Characteristics

Direct access to the sandy area of Praia dos Beijinhos is via a staircase that descends the slope. This entrance can be challenging due to its steepness.

The sandy space available to visitors varies with the tide; at high tide, the strip of sand becomes considerably narrower. It is prudent to maintain a safe distance from the base of the cliffs due to the risk of small rockfalls.
