Praia do Barranco is situated within the Crastos area, in the village of Porches, belonging to the municipality of Lagoa. This beach occupies a discreet nook at the base of the cliffs that characterize this part of the Algarve coast.
Situated in a cove, it benefits from the natural protection offered by the surrounding rock formations.
The natural features of this beach are quite distinct. Instead of extensive sand, what is found are pebbles and stones that cover the area. These stones may exhibit greenish hues, influenced by the presence of seawater.
High tide frequently reaches this stony area. For this reason, and due to its composition, the beach is not the most suitable for those looking for a place to swim, being more of a scenic and geological point of interest.
One of the particular features of Praia do Barranco is the presence of a cave located at the base of the imposing cliff that surrounds it. This rock formation lends additional interest to the beach's natural environment.
This natural cavity is an example of the continuous action of marine erosion on the coast's geological formations, adding a notable visual element to the coastal landscape.
