Kurnach Park is located in Aljezur, within a शांत residential area characterized by wide streets and simple buildings with white façades and traditional tiled roofs. The space blends naturally into the daily life of the village, functioning as a small open square used by the local community.
The surroundings are calm and sunny, with pedestrian circulation areas and some trees that provide shade and comfort throughout the day.
At the heart of the park stands a distinctive artistic structure, formed by a metal frame supporting fishing nets, clearly evoking the region’s connection to the sea and its fishing traditions.
Beneath this structure, which visually resembles boat sails, there are several human silhouettes made of rusted metal. These figures represent men and women from different professions, suggesting everyday scenes and highlighting local identity and work.
The sculptures, cut in stylized forms, create an interesting interplay of light and shadow on the ground and surrounding surfaces. The use of oxidized metal reinforces a rustic and authentic character, closely linked to manual work and traditional activities.
The suspended nets and elements add a sense of lightness and movement, as if the installation interacts with the wind and the open space of the park.
The park features light stone paving, wooden benches, and simple green areas, creating a welcoming setting for short breaks. The existing trees provide partial shade, making the space more comfortable during warmer periods.
The scale is intimate, encouraging a शांत and contemplative experience, where the artistic element plays a central role in the visitor’s perception of the space.
