The Estômbar Main Church, also known as the Church of São Tiago (Saint James), is located in the center of Estômbar, in the municipality of Lagoa, Algarve.
This building was constructed in the 16th century in honour of Saint James. However, it underwent reconstruction in the 18th century, which altered some of its original details.
The church is classified as a National Monument, which highlights its historical and architectural importance.
One of the points of interest inside the church is the Main Chapel, where you can admire tiles painted in 1719, which decorate the main altar area.
The Church of São Tiago presents an architecture that blends Gothic and Manueline elements, with a single nave and an impressive high altar.
This place continues to be an important center of worship for the local community, and also an attraction for visitors interested in history and religious architecture.
