Located in the Bom Retiro area, in the town of Portimão, the gallery is situated in an urban context. This location is part of a revitalization project that breathed new life into a building in the area, contributing to the local environment.
Meinke Flesseman, the artist after whom the gallery is named, is of Dutch origin but lives and works in the Algarve. Her work displayed in the space deeply reflects her connection to the surrounding nature and the landscapes of the region. Inspirations from country life, animals, and childhood memories in the area are visible in her works. There is also an influence of her Dutch background in her technique and composition.
The gallery is housed in a building that underwent a careful rehabilitation process. The objective was to honor the history of the place, integrating heritage elements with a contemporary artistic approach. The space was designed for the exhibition of works, seeking to create an environment that allows for deep appreciation of the art. It reflects an atmosphere reminiscent of a private museum, conceived to highlight the paintings.
Anyone wishing to visit the Meinke Flesseman Gallery should note that access to the space is exclusively by prior appointment. It is necessary to schedule the visit directly to access the gallery and view the works.
