Located in Cabo de Sagres, in the Algarve, Portugal, the fortress offers stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Built in the 15th century by order of Prince Henry the Navigator, it was a strategic point during the Portuguese Discoveries. After significant damage caused by the 1755 earthquake, it was rebuilt at the end of the 18th century.
It has a polygonal plan with two bastions at the corners and six batteries facing the sea. The main entrance is located in the center of the wall, under a turret.
