The Mosque Fountain is situated in the Barrabés urbanization, in the locality of Barracha, which is part of the municipality of São Brás de Alportel. It is located in a more rural and tranquil area, inviting serene exploration of its surroundings.
This place is an important testament to the rural heritage of São Brás de Alportel. The Mosque Fountain, along with its adjacent wash house, played a central role in the daily life of the community for generations. It served as an essential water supply point and, consequently, as a space for socializing and sharing among local inhabitants, marking their collective memory.
Recently, the Mosque Fountain and its wash house underwent a rehabilitation project. The works aimed to preserve the authenticity of this ensemble, while also improving the space for visitors. Among the interventions, the repair of the wash house and the replacement of its roof stand out, now featuring a wooden structure and regional ceramic tiles, respecting the original design and the use of traditional materials. The environment was carefully enriched with the planting of new trees and the installation of urban furniture that harmoniously integrates into the surrounding landscape.
The area surrounding the Mosque Fountain offers an atmosphere of serenity, typical of the Algarve countryside. It is a space where one can enjoy the quietness and simplicity of the local landscape. The presence of vegetation and the calm environment make this an ideal spot for a moment of pause, reflection, and contact with the region's nature, allowing one to observe the rural life that manifests here.
