The space known as "Dois Mundos" is located in the Fishermen's Quarter (Bairro dos Pescadores), in the town of Albufeira. It is a pedestrian tunnel situated at the Dois Mundos Roundabout, next to the Avenida dos Descobrimentos (Avenue of Discoveries), functioning as one of the main entrances to the city. This underground passage establishes a practical and visually striking connection between the central area of Albufeira and Parque do Ribeiro (Ribeiro Park), a green area used for leisure and sports.
This place transforms a functional passage into a true urban art gallery. The tunnel is home to a vast work titled "The Ocean Wall", created by Albufeira artist ASUR, whose real name is Filipe Neves. This artistic intervention is notable for its scale, extending over a considerable area and using a painting technique that covers the walls with an immersive representation of the marine world.
The art present in "Dois Mundos" is a living tribute to Albufeira's strong connection with the ocean and its fishing roots. The work portrays, with great detail and realism, traditional boats, fishermen at work, and an impressive diversity of marine life. One of the highlights is a vessel dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Orada (Our Lady of Orada), underlining the devotion and sea-related culture that characterize the local community. It is a way of keeping alive the memory and importance of fishing activity for the city's history and identity.
